LNG

Gas supplies from European sources will gradually decline in future and this is when LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) will play an increasingly important role in gas supplies for Europe and therefore Germany.
Apart from contributing to diversifying sources of supply, the purchase of LNG also helps to enhance the security of supply even further. At the same time, the LNG business gives VNG access to new supply sources in North Africa and countries in the Middle East. This not only means that VNG can expand its supply portfolio but also opens possibilities for developing new markets for gas.

VNG holds a 100% share in the Italian company SPIGAS S.r.l., which has been involved in short-term gas trading for many years. The wholesaler from La Spezia has extensive experience in the LNG business and also has access to the Panigaglia regasification terminal. VNG sees greater openings for long-term LNG supplies from 2013 onwards.
